HELENA 34 TREASURE VALLEY 16

BOISE - Hollis Huggins rushed for 206 yards and 3 touchdowns and Max Moriarty picked off a Yarmen Williams pass and raced 20 yards for another score as the Helena Titans stayed alive for an RMFL playoff spot defeating the Treasure Valley Panthers 34-16. Huggins, who had 244 total yards, was a one-man show for the Titans who only amassed a team total of 266 yards. The Titan defense was lead by Moriarty with his pick and score as well as a fumble recovery, additionally Steve Kendall who had 7-1/2 tackles and Spencer Steiner with 5-1/2 tackles helped diffuse a ressurected Panther team. The Panthers were lead by Shawn Mares who was a rare "triple threat", completing two passes for 60 yards, rushing for 44 yards and receiving 2 passes for 77 yards, including a flare pass, which he broke for a 75-yard touchdown. The Panther defense was lead by Bob Mares with 8 tackles and a sack, Robert Tracy with 7-1/2 tackles and 6'4", 270 lb Travis Hobson who recorded 8-1/2 tackles and a sack. The afternoon temps got into the 90's and heat exhaustion became a real concern during the game. Hobson collapsed in the 4th quarter and needed to be revived. The game was also marked by a rare feat. Panther, Stuart Dennis blocked two extra points, and on the second block, Justin Roberts picked up the loose ball and raced 90-yards for the rare 2-point defensive score. The Panthers (2-5) come off a bye week to finish the season against the Fort Hall Cobras (0-6) and now must hope for a Boise victory over Idaho Falls to have a shot at the playoffs. The Titans (3-3) return home to host the Snake River Rebels (5-2) and control their own destiny.
