TREASURE VALLEY 16 SALT LAKE 9

BOISE - Stuart Dennis caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Dustin Vandermeer in the 4th quarter to break a 9-9 tie with the win-less Salt Lake Stallions to pull out a difficult 16-9 victory. The Panthers rushed for a team total of 207 rushing yards, lead by Derek Trask (12 carries, 69 yards, touchdown) and George Furlott (12 carries, 54 yards) as 6 different rushers contributed to the offense. The Panther defense was lead by Jeremy Harward (7 tackles, interception), Aaron Crawford (6 tackles), as well as Bob Mares (5-1/2 tackles) and Travis Hobson (5 tackles). Also, Hobson will be the answer to an RMFL history question. Because of the new addition of quarterback Vandermeer, and his unfamiliarity with the offense, Hobson, the Panthers center, called the offensive plays in the game.

The Stallions who were on their 5th straight of 6 total road games played their best game of the season, having a chance to win the game going into the fourth quarter. Head Coach, Russ Brown, strapped on the pads for the first time this season, playing the familiar quarterback position (Brown was a quarterback for the Wasatch Wildcats). Brown had a solid performance, passing for more than 100 yards. The Stallions biggest star of the day, however, was tailback/defensive back, Billy Davis. Davis rushed for over 100 yards (101 on 15 carries)AND lead the defense with 9 tackles and a fumble recovery, which he picked up and ran in for the Stallions only touchdown midway through the third quarter. James Whitehead also had a solid defensive day, recording 6 tackles, including the game-tying safety late in the third quarter.
