IDAHO FALLS – For the Stallions, they just weren't ready for a long road game against a good team. For the Mustangs, the Stallions were "just what the doctor ordered" to help them regain confidence after struggling in a tight road win in Mini-Cassia the weekend before. The result: Mustangs stampeded the Stallions to the tune of 63-0. Everything just went right for the Mustangs, including a fumble after a Sean Powell reception. Instead of the Stallions recovering, which they were in perfect position to do, the ball squirted through the legs of a Stallion and into "Johnny on the spot", Jake Scouten who showed great speed outracing everyone for his third touchdown, a 62-yard fumble pick-up and run. Scouten finished the day with 155 yards on only 10 carries. Scouten scored the first 3 toucdonws of the game in relief for the Mustangs "depth chart" starter, Casey Anderson who did not play, nursing a sprained ankle.

Scouten's 62-yard rumble "broke the back" of the Stallions who had a chance to recover the fumble and be in Mustang territory to try to get to a 12-6 score and give themselves a chance. The Mustangs recovered the opening kickoff after the Stallions failed to get to the wind affected ball. The Mustangs scored on the very next play and the Stallions started reeling. The next possession, the Stallions punted after 3 & out, but the punt snap sailed over the head of punter Danny Gonzales and the Mustangs tackled him before he could kick it. The Mustangs scored the second touchdown only a few plays later. It seemed as if the Stallions were getting confidence back, keeping the Mustangs off the scoreboard for almost 15 mintutes of clock, when the fumble/touchdown occured. After Scouten's heroics, it became the Russell Cummins show on the scoreboard. Cummins scored the next three touchdowns, before halftime, as well as a 20-yard rumble to finish the game for a total of 4 on the game. Scouten also caught 2 passes for 48 yards for a total of over 200 total yards for the game. Cummins rushed for 63 and caught 3 passes for 33 himself. The Mustang defense kept the Stallions off balance all afternoon as Ron Childs (4-1/2 tackles) and Scott Worthington (4 tackles) lead the way. For the Stallions, Andrew Butler (6 tackles, 2 blocked kicks) and Michael Sagapolutelle (4 tackles) looked solid on defense.
