MINI-CASSIA 50 SALT LAKE 6

RUPERT - The Mini-Cassia Bulldawgs continued their winning ways running away with a 50-6 victory over the Salt Lake Stallions... but not without a great degree of difficulty and not until both teams had set an RMFL record with 14 turnovers commmitted in the game, 11 total interceptions, including another RMFL record-tying 7 interceptions by Stallion quarterback, Jeff Brown.

The vaunted Bulldawgs started slowly, as an early fumble set the Stallions up in point blank range at the Bulldawg 10-yard line. 3 plays later, Jeff Brown hit Billy Davis with a short touchdown pass and the Stallions were ahead. Davis had a mammoth game for the Stallions, rushing for 31 yards, catching 4 passes for 63 yards, returning kicks for 109 yards, and he recorded two defensive tackles. In fact, the usually anemic Stallion offense showed signs of life, racking over 200 yards of total net offense, almost twice the total yardage the Idaho Falls Mustangs put on the Bulldawg defense two weeks earlier. The Stallions more than doubled their offensive output of the first two games combined (98 yards total).

But the Bulldawgs would not be denied as perennial all-star quarterback, Mike Manning took control. Manning ran in for 2 touchdowns and passed for 3 touchdowns, including a total of 334 passing yards to go with his 63 rushing yards. Former RMFL MVP, Lonnie Edwards was also solid on offense rushing for 28 yards, but catching 7 passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns. The Bulldawg defense was lead by Alan Hakes (8 tackles), Casey Neilson (6 tackles), and a monster day in the secondary by Deejay Stanger who intercepted 3 of Brown's passes, running one of them back 60 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter to get the Bulldawgs momentum going.
