BOISE 35 HELENA 13

HELENA - Cherone Schneider rushed for 165 yards and scored two touchdowns and Tom Bennett passed for over 200 yards and two touchdowns without an interception, as the oft road-maligned Boise Roughriders finally found some offense in accumulating more than 400 total yards in a big road victory, 35-13 over the under-achieving Helena Titans.

The Roughriders got their first big offensive game of the season as Schneider was consistent as a work-horse, rushing 28 times, and Bennett was accurate to the task, missing starting receivers Chance Leeds and Jared Gast, spreading around the ball to multiple receivers (Miller 52 yards, Potteiger 50 yards, Schnieder 47 yards, Quinney 43 yards) in a balanced attack. Zac Jockumsen, once again lead the defensive attack recording another 10+ tackle afternoon with 14-1/2 on the day. Donald Nelson returned to Roughrider star status as well with 5-1/2 tackles, as well did Dane Knickrehm and Curt Haldeman. The Roughriders had to play the game without defensive stars Patrick Avent and Bill Dennison, however, a deep Roughrider team rose to the occasion.

The Titans saw some flashes of brilliance from long-time starting tailback, Hollis Huggins who has converted to defensive back this year. Huggins rushed for 50 yards on 7 carries (7+ yards a carry) in a, once again, strong Helena rushing attack. Once again, however, the rushing attack was lead by quarterback, Shane Jurasek (11 carries, 71 yards) who failed to pass for 100 yards once again. The Titans defense did get a big boost from the full-strength return of middle linebacker, Spencer Steiner. Steiner picked up 10-1/2 tackles and a sack of Bennett. Ken Sanford (5.5 tackles) and Frank Cannon (5 tackles) also chipped in big in attempts to stop Schneider and the Roughriders. The game was played without a single interception tossed in a run-dominated game. Bryan Hilborn nailed a 44 and a 33-yard field goal to continue another fine season of excellent kicking for the Titans.
