HELENA - In the "battle of state capitals", the Helena Titans jumped out to a quick 16-0 lead in the first quarter and held on as Boise outscored them 9-7 in the final three quarters for their first RMFL victory, 23-9 over the visiting Roughriders. The Titans offense was lead by quarterback, Shane Jurasek (179 yards passing, 51 yards rushing) and Hollis Huggins (52 yards rushing, 40 yards receiving). The Titans defense held back a proficient Roughrider offense behind star efforts from Spencer Steiner (10-1/2 tackles, 1 fumble recovery), Kieth Simendinger (8-1/2 tackles, 1 int.) and the emergence as a player of head coach, former NFL player, Brett Gastineau (5-1/2 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries). The Roughriders stars also came to play. Quarterback, Paul Dovel passed for 271 yards and his favorite target, Chance Leeds, went over 100 reception yards once again. The Roughrider defense kept the team in the game, lead by Donald Nelson (8-1/2 tackles) and Terance King (6 tackles). The Titans (1-1) enjoy a bye week before hosting the Fort Hall Cobras (0-3) while the Roughriders (1-1), must now gear up for a grudge match with cross-town rival, Treasure Valley (0-2).
