Austin Shawver scored 5 touchdowns, Travis Boden 4 touchdowns and Travis Goodwin picked off an RMFL record 4 Dennis Paulsen passes, including one returned for a touchdown, en route to a complete anhilation in the opening game for the "undefeated in Idaho", Snake River Rebels by a score of 72-0. The Rebels combined for a record 378 rushing yards and a record 544 total offensive yards, utilizing primarily 3 running backs (Austin Shawver - 183 yards, Travis Boden - 97 yards, Zeke Thomas - 79 yards). Defensively, the Rebels intercepted the Cobras 7 times, including Goodwin "cycle" and sacked Cobra quarterbacks 7 times and forced two fumbles lost. On the positive side for the Cobras, the much maligned offense was able to record 4 first downs and improved with positive passing yards against the leagues number one ranked defense. According to Cobra head coach, JC Poitra, "we played better against them than Poky... the score doesn't show it, but we did." The Cobras (0-2) complete a hellacious opening schedule against Idaho Falls (1-0) next week while Snake River (1-0) visits Mini-Cassia (0-2) on Saturday night at Minico High School.
