April 5th, 2003 Great Falls Gladiators vs. Boise Roughriders
BOISE 26 GREAT FALLS 0
NAMPA – The Boise Roughriders overcame a slew of offensive miscues and 120 yards of penalties to cruise to a 26-0 victory over RMFL expansion team, Great Falls Gladiators. The Roughriders were their own worst enemy, leading the day in penalties and newly promoted quarterback, James Manderscheid struggled early before finding his rythem and completing 10 passes for 132 yards and a touchdown. The Gladiators offense struggled mightily against a revved up Roughrider defense as they could only gain two non-penalty aided first down in the entire game.
The Roughriders had many stars. On offense, the Roughriders got a big boost from Fernando Vale (aquired from the Mini-Cassia Bulldawgs) who accounted for 73 total yards (36 rushing, 37 receiving) and a touchdown. After starting tailback, Corey Smith had to leave the game, back up Cherone Schneider, filled in capably with 46 rushing yards on 11 carries. Tight end, Royce Potteiger had a solid game catching 4 Manderscheid passes for 57 yards. The defense was lead, once again by Zac Jockumsen (6 tackles), Curt Haldeman (4 tackles, 2 sacks) and Dane Knickrehm (3 tackles, interception return for touchdown) as the Roughrider defensive line was constantly in the Gladiator backfield stifling Great Falls throughout the game. The Gladiator defense did get a solid effort from Reggie Jennings (7 tackles), Micheal Rohde (7 tackles) and Jeff Barton (3 tackles, 1 fumble recovery).
