April 26th, 2003 Great Falls Gladiators vs. Madison Lionz
MADISON 63 GREAT FALLS 0
REXBURG - It was a home team on a roll and a road team still struggling to find its identity. Result: home team wins big. The Madison Lionz continued they're roll through the RMFL Saturday with an overwhelming victory over the visiting, Great Falls Gladiators 63-0. The Lionz unloaded their bench as they rolled out 11 running backs and 3 quarterbacks on offense and had 23 different players record tackles in the rout. Lionz back-up tailback, Kirk Smith had the biggest offensive day, rushing for 94 yards on 8 carries, including 3 rushing touchdowns (57, 5, 20 yards). Madison starting quarterback, Troy Dougherty had another solid performance, throwing 4 touchdown passes in the first quarter and seeing limited duty on the day. Star wide receivers, Buck Mouser and Dave Allen also had big days. Mouser caught two touchdown passes and Allen completed the "hat trick", receiving for 46 yards, rushing for 16 yards and passing for another 34 yards and a touchdown. With the loss of star kicker, Jim Marshall, Mouser also tacked on 3 extra point kicks. Not to be outdone, as Mouser's back-up kicker, Allen added 2 extra point kicks and a 2-point conversion. The Lionz defense played a solid effort as a unit, however, Josh Huntsman, recording 4-1/2 tackles including 2 sacks and Tagg Williams intercepted Gladiator quarterback, Teejay Peterson twice on the day. The Gladiators, who played the game with a "limited" traveling squad Reggie Jennings (7-1/2 tackles) and Billy McKenzie (5-1/2 tackles).
