The Pocatello Silverbacks opened up the 2002 defense of their Rocky Mountain Football League title with a resounding 60-0 drubbing of the undermanned Fort Hall Cobras. The inspired Silverbacks held the Cobras to negative total yards for the first time in RMFL history while allowing only 3 first downs in the game. Six different Silverback players scored touchdowns including 3 by ex-Cobra, Reggie Jackson, quarterback, Jeff Belnap threw 4 touchdown pass and Brock Gunter went for more than 100 receiving yards as the Silverbacks dominated throughout. The Silverback defense recorded 9 sacks (3 by Spencer Perry) and 7 interceptions in the rout. The Cobras showed up without four of their most key linemen, Tyrone Palmer, Chris Hughes, Tala Togai and Rod Pokibro who might have been able to contribute significantly in preventing the debacle.
