BOISE CARDINALS 10 MINI-CASSIA BULLDAWGS 6
Stuart Dennis caught his 7th touchdown pass from Dustin Vandermeer midway through the 4th quarter in leading the Boise Cardinals to a 10-6 squeaker over the Mini-Cassia Bulldawgs. The touchdown reception may have been his most critical in a defensive struggle which Mini-Cassia seemed to control much of the time. After a scoreless first half, the Bulldawgs broke out on top midway through the third quarter after a poor punt snap by the Cardinals put the 'Dawgs on the Cardinals 3-yard line. Dusty Jenkins busted in from there and the home team took a 6-0 lead. After slowly losing field position through the fourth quarter on a cool, blustery afternoon, the Bulldawgs opted to accept a safety on a punt out of their end zone to gain field position, making the score 6-2. After the free kick, the Cardinals drove down to the Bulldawg 25-yard line, setting up the game winning grab by Dennis. The win clinches the West division title for the Cardinals (6-3) who now have a bye week before finishing the season at Treasure Valley (3-5) in Kuna, Idaho. The Bulldawgs (2-6) who maintain slim playoff hopes remain home for the remainder of the season to take on Rocky Mountain (2-6) on Sept. 9th only to finish against the Wasatch Wildcats (8-0).
