The Boise Roughrider defense forced 7 Bulldawg turnovers in turning back an improved Bulldawg team 29-0, that had hopes of finally breaking through and defeating their biggest nemesis over the past three seasons. Although the Roughriders intercepted Bulldawg quarterback, Mike Manning 4 times and recovered 3 Bulldawg fumbles, the Bulldawgs were in the game throughout. The score was still only 16-0 heading into the 4th quarter before Boise blew it open with two more scores. Donald Nelson recorded 8 tackles and a pick and new 2002 Roughrider addition, Terance King had 6-1/2 tackles and an interception in leading an inspired Roughrider defense on their home turf. Paul Dovel passed for 163 yards and a touchdown and Denver Leeds, stepping up when brother, Chance Leeds was ejected in the first half, caught 5 passes for 110 yards to help lead the offense that was the beneficiary of the strong defensive support. Manning followed up his 406 yard passing performance in week #1 with 140 yards verus the Roughriders, however, the 4 interceptions contributed to the Bulldawgs demise. The Bulldawg defense kept the blue and white in the game, lead by Alan Hakes with 10 tackles and Fernando Vale with 2 interceptions. The Bulldawgs (0-2) next face Snake River (1-0) at home, while the Roughriders (3-0) travel to Helena, Montana to face the Helena Titans (0-1).
