Fort Hall, Idaho - The Fort Hall Cobras were ready for the Boise Roughriders this time, only the team from the state captital was more ready, making the big plays needed to drop the Cobras and dim Cobra playoff hopes, 44-6. It was "another day at the office" for Boise quarterback, Paul Dovel and star receiver, Chance Leeds, Dovel completed 17 of 27 for 205 yards and 4 touchdown passes. Chance Leeds caught 10 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Leeds also was the beneficiary of a Jamie Vincent interception with seconds remaining in the first quarter, Vincent picked off a Mike Merrill pass and as he was going down near the Cobra 10-yard line, pitched it back to Leeds who took it the final 10 for the touchdown, giving Leeds 3 touchdowns on the day and upping his touchdown lead to 13 on the season. Leeds is the league-leading scorer and touchdown-maker. Now ahead of second place, Silverback Brock Gunter who has 10 touchdowns with one game left. With a Utah Shark forfeit looming as the Roughrider last game, the Roughriders will finish the season 7-1, after losing their first game of the season 26-10 to Pocatello. Boise's defense was keyed by Bill Dennison (5 tackles), Bill Martin (4-1/2 tackles), Jamie Vincent (2 interceptions) and Aaron Crawford (2 interceptions). Crawford, however, cost the team perhaps another potential score after a long completion from Dovel to Ryan Crawford set the Roughriders up first and goal on the 1-yard line, Aaron Crawford saw a rare carry in the backfield when Cobra lineman, Joe Mecham broke threw and knocked the ball lose from Crawford and Rod Pokibro recovered the ball to prevent another Boise score. Roughrider, backup tailback, Bob Long performed well for star tailback, Tom Bicandi who did not make the trip. Long scored two touchdowns, including the games first score, a 30-yard reverse field run to put Boise up to stay. Cobra fullback, J.W. Dixey (9 carries, 27 yards) looked impressive at times, but their biggest offensive output came on a 43-yard halfback option pass. Merrill pitched to Joseph Hale, who threw a perfect stike to Matt Gonzalas who had gotten behind the Boise secondary and took it in for the score. It was the Cobra's first touchdown pass of the season. The Cobra defense was anchored by Jason Belcher (4-1/2 tackles) and Curtis Seutopka (4-1/2 tackles).
