GREAT FALLS RANGERS 26 BOISE CARDINALS 19
The Great Falls Rangers continued a healthy recovery from a 3-game mid season skid by upsetting West division leading, Boise Cardinals 26-19, ending a Cardinal 5-game winning streak and propelling themselves directly into contention for the North division crown. The Rangers, still trying to brush off the "road dust" from an 8-hour road trip to Boise, fell behind 17-0 as the Cardinals got a 25-yard field goal from Jim Slocum and two Dustin Vandermeer to Del Nelson touchdown passes. The game looked well in control for the Red and White until early in the 3rd quarter when Shane Jurasek found Anthony Barnes for a 60-yard touchdown connection. The score remained 17-8 until early in the fourth quarter when Jurasek hit Chris Weingarten on a 65-yard pass play. Boise's Stuart Dennis promptly returned the Rangers' failed conversion 98-yards for a rare 2-point defensive conversion score, making it 19-14. Russell Davis broke a 65-yard touchdown run on the Rangers next possession making the score 20-19 Rangers. Anthony Barnes broke a 23-yard touchdown run with 3:00 minutes remaining in the game to give the Rangers their final margin. The Rangers (4-3) schedule doesn't get easier as they stay home to host the Bozeman Kodiaks (5-3) in a battle for not only the division, but Montana supremacy. The Cardinals (5-2) now must travel to Idaho Falls to face the Mustangs (5-2) on the heels of a 4-game winning streak.
