IDAHO FALLS MUSTANGS 32 BOISE 14

The Idaho Falls Mustangs turned a possible 7-0 halftime deficit into a 12-0 halftime lead with a 3:00 late second quarter blitz to carry them to a 32-14 victory over the West division-leading Boise Cardinals. With under 5 minutes remaining in the first half and the score knotted at 0-0, Boise drove deep into Mustang territory and looked on the verge of scoring and taking the lead. The Mustangs defense stiffened and gave the offense possession on their own 4-yard line. 8 plays later, Mike Jensen broke an 18-yard touchdown run and on first play of the Cardinals ensuing possession, Sean Powell picked off Dustin Vandermeer and raced 45-yards to paydirt to give the Mustangs a quick 12-0 halftime lead. Early in the second half, Jared Neumeier found Powell for a 73-yard touchdown pass and later found Roudy Keller on a 9-yard pass to take a commanding 26-0 lead which they would not relinquish. The Mustangs (6-2) will play the Wasatch Wildcats (8-0) next on September 9th, while the Cardinals (5-3) get to play Labor Day Saturday in Minidoka county against the Mini-Cassia Bulldawgs (2-5).
