FORMER MUDDOGS HOPE TO LIVE UP TO NEW NAME

SALT LAKE CITY – It finally became official as the management of the old Muddogs have begun a new era in the Rocky Mountain Football League as the Utah Shock, and hope to do just that… to the rest of the AAA Division, in 2008.

The Muddogs, formerly the Kamas Valley Muddogs, a team used to “shocking” the league by playing what many would think was “over their heads”, will henceforth be known as the Utah Shock.

In 2005, the franchise shocked the RMFL by holding the Rhino-Raiders to 14 points in a regular season game, then subbing in the playoffs for the Magic Valley Bulldawgs, actually competed with 13 players against a roster of 60+ up in Missoula, Montana, before falling to the Missoula Raptors in the first round of the playoffs.

In 2006, the franchise went wire-to-wire undefeated in the first season in the AA to capture the Championship, graduating into the AAA for 2007.

In 2007, the franchise shocked the league with lack of productivity, losing their franchise quarterback, Jordan Kjar, in the first game of the season and getting only one victory, a 28-21 home victory against the AA bound Boise Speed late in the season.

Now, under a new moniker, a healthy Kjar, and an influx of talent from the AA Vipers and other areas of northern Utah, the Shock are expecting to do just that.

According to team GM, Kyto Khouangrasvongsay, they “Chose the name 'SHOCK', because since we've joined the league that's what we've done so many times. Going into Missoula 13 strong, and competing. After a 3-6 season, going 10-0 to win the AA Championship. And producing names that will live in the RMFL history books for years to come. We will still be playing our games at Granger High, but chose Utah because we have players spanning not in one central location but from Utah County, Salt Lake County, Davis and Weber.”

They Shock have also created a new web site that can be linked from the RMFL home page or at: http://www.utahshock.com
