Team Preview by: Ed Cerise
The Warriorz were the only team the RMFL board
members were buzzing about during their team presentation. Many questions were raised about their home
field, number of players, as well as the amount of players the team may have
and how organized they were.
Fast forward today and the Warriorz are still a team on everyones mind in AA as there has been questions regarding their field and do they have one? Over the past two weeks the Warriorz had preseason games schedule with AAA opponents only to cancel them right before the games due to equipment issues, jerseys issues, etc. Whatever the reason may be just like their Oiler counterparts Warriorz GM Kaisa Kinikini has stated to Commissioner Cerise that all issues are resolved and the Warriorz will be ready to travel to the Oilers in week 1.
Offensive Outlook:
With all of that administrative items aside, lets talk about football, The Warriorz offensively have a lot of talent, what will be difficult is harnessing that talent into a well oiled machine that will translate into wins on the field. Leading the charge will be Quarterback Jake Wrigley (5-11 190) who in his first year will be handing the ball off to newcomers Paseni Makoni (6-0 220) and Abe White (5-11 220) two bruisers who will run over people on their way into the endzone. When the passing game comes into effect Wrigley will be throwing to Jordan Wood (6-5 235), Samiu Tuifua (5-11 230) and former Wolverine and NFL Player Tevita Ofahengaue (6-5 250). I do believe this offensive skill set has to be the largest in the entire league. They may be the largest in the country. The O-Line is no different with Mone Tuha (6-2 290), Sione Latu (6-4 275), Uhia Tuikolovatu (6-1 275), Jr. Tuha (6-3 295), and finishing up the O-Line is Ricki Koli (6-3 320). This team does not lack size like most other teams do, so watch for this team to pound the ball.
Defensive Outlook:
The Defense of the Warriorz is just like the Offensive side filled with size and talent, but hardly any experience. As a first year team they will struggle, every point scored against this defense will be earned and opposing teams will work hard to get them.
The line is lead by former Wolverine Brandon Tiatia (6-3 280) who will line up with Diale Hautau (6-3 295), Jordan Johnson (6-5 265) and Faletau Masiva (6-3 280). With a line with so much size it will be hard for anyone to run or pass against them. Teams that have lineman below 200lbs may be in trouble. At Linebackers the Warriorz have size there as well with Paul Tuakaluau (5-11 245), Joe Harris (5-10 230), and RMFL Journey man Dennis Glasker (5-11 230) who has probably played for more RMFL teams than anyone in the league. Finally, the coverage guys will be Siosi Kioa (5-8 170), Josh White (6-0 180), SS Soni Kinikini (6-0 220) and at FS Paseni Makoni (6-0 220). This is a tough bunch that should be very good and tough to score on.
SUMMARY:
What this team doesnt lack is size, what it does lack is coordination. Kinikini has a long road ahead of him and with issues already regarding untimely responses to league items; a poor precedence has been set. If they can get it together the Warriorz will be very good, but so far that doesnt seem to be the case. The Warriorz have an uphill battle this season and many question have been raised if they will actually even finish the season. That remains to be seen, but with so much on the line from the community to the players there is a lot riding on their shoulders to finish out this season. With so many uncertainties and their current status of not responding to league items I have ranked the Warriorz at the bottom alongside the Oilers.
