SHOCK’S JORDAN KJAR GARNER’S RMFL MVP FOR TEAM’S REBOUND; WOLVERINES’ PETERSON GAINS OFFENSIVE MVP AS POCATELLO’S DURHAM EARNS DEFENSIVE MVP FOR AAA DIVISION

RMFL–  After going 10-0 in 2006 as a team named only “Muddogs”, behind a rising star quarterback, named Jordan Kjar (pronounced “care”), all seemed well and good as the Muddogs entered the AAA division in 2007 expecting to “Shock” the league.

What happened was something entirely different.

Their “star” quarterback, Kjar went down early in the first game of the season and never played again.  The team went on to lose 8 of  9 games and there was plenty of talk that maybe the team didn’t belong in the AAA.

Then came 2008.

Kjar was back… and the Muddogs, now renamed the “Utah Shock”, ultimately did “Shock” the RMFL en route to a 7-1 record and the #1 seed in the AAA playoffs.

On Saturday, Kjar earned some much deserved recognition as the “Most Valuable Player” in the RMFL as he did turn a franchise completely around.

Kjar garnered an effective tie with the Wolverines quarterback, Charlie Peterson for the most Managing Board votes for overall MVP with 36 each and won on the first tie-breaker of most votes for his position, picking up 38 to 28 over Peterson in the Offensive MVP category.  Peterson lead the AAA in passer rating, leading the Wolverines to the RMFL Championship game and Kjar finished second, however, was ultimately recognized for turning a losing franchise into a championship franshise.

Peterson was awarded the AAA’s Offensive MVP award, getting 8 more points than 3rd place honoree, Joe Mapson.

The Defensive MVP honor went to Pocatello’s Jason Durham, who finished a couple of tackles shy of the tackles crown, even after missing two games of the season.  Durham outpaced second place finisher, Levine Tupe, the Cache Valley Bears affable linebacker and 12 points higher than Vaea Fiefia, the Bears team leader and top defensive linemen in the RMFL.
