HISTORY IN RETROSPECTIVE: THE AMAZING WINNING STREAK
OF THE RHINO-RAIDERS

For the first time since
the proliferation of the IPOD, the Rhino-Raiders go into a regular season game
coming off a loss the previous week. Did they run extra laps in practice? Spend
extra time in the film room? Visit a sports psychologist about habitual losing?
Drink heavily? None of the above. The
Rhinos have shrugged off the loss, saying good-bye to ‘the streak”, but remain
the defending champions and will continue to play like it… until someone can
take the championship away from them.
OGDEN – I think it would be extremely interesting to play a game of Where
were you when the Rhino-Raiders last lost a league game that counted?
Now lets set the parameters correctly… I mean a regular League game that counted.
There might be some out there that think its ludicrous to only count ONLY “League” games, however, I would like to tell you why you should only count “league” games. If you go and play either a pre-season game, post season exhibition game, or even a post season tournament game, there are so many different aspects to games like those that make them not really fair to count. In exhibition or pre-season games, teams are often just trying to see players, try out different things or just get together to have some fun. In post season tournaments… as the Rhinos have experienced as much as anyone, you could be going on a long road game to play some team that doesn’t even resemble the team that played in that league’s regular season… you might be playing some sort of practiced “all-star” team. The roster rules of the league will usually not apply… our league rules certainly don’t if RMFL teams wants to play outside of the league.
Based on that criteria, however, I count actually 79 games in the famous
streak, instead of the more popular figure of something like 84. All of the
games and results attributed to this great streak are mapped out over time as
follows:
