RMFL NAMES LONG-TIME SALT LAKE CITY OFFICIAL, RANDELL SILCOX, AS HEAD OF OFFICIALS FOR THE LEAGUE

RMFL – When reigning league Head of Officials, Dave Sire, was named as the new AAA Commissioner for the RMFL beginning with the 2008 season, a vacancy was created, a vacancy that was going to be very difficult to fill.

The Rocky Mountain Football League, however, is proud to announce that current “Coordinator of Salt Lake Officials”, Randell Silcox, has accepted the position as league Head of Officials and will assume office in January, 2008.

According to RMFL Commissioner, Jared Neumeier, “I was really, really happy to get Randell to take this position.  He has been absolutely great to work with and everyone down the line has had nothing but good things to say about how well he conducts himself, and his knowledge of the rules.”

Silcox, also received a strong recommendation from out-going Head of Officials, Sire, who said, “Randell has the respect of many of the officials.   I also believe he would be well supported by all the teams. I think he would be an excellent choice.  He was always willing to work with me when I was Head of Officials; and I see no reason why he would not continue to do so as the Head of Officials.”

According to Neumeier, Silcox also fills a geographic need, “if we have any kind of brewing officiating crises, it would most likely be in Utah right now, “Neumeier said. “Having a Utah guy in as the primary authority for the RMFL will go a long way in heading off any problems… Of course, our teams and players must also do their part. You can be sure that we will spend ample time at the January kick-off meeting addressing not only our rules but our attitudes and behavior towards game officials”.

Silcox, also expresses real enthusiasm for the position, stating that his primary goal is  to provide a better working relationship between official, owners, and
players on the football field and on Saturdays to have my officials officiate football games to the best of their ability.”
