SEMINOLES WILL RETURN TO RMFL IN 2008

RMFL -  After an administrative “train wreck” at the end of the 2007 regular season, the Salt Lake Seminoles, one of the nice (on field) surprises of last season… WILL be back.

According to RMFL commissioner, Jared Neumeier, he had been “operating under the assumption”… that they wouldn’t be.

“There seemed to be some management ‘differences of opinion’ late in the season,” he explained, ‘that combined with the fact that they ended up burning their entire $500 new team deposit in fines AND did not send a representative to the July league meeting just seemed to indicate that this team did not have the necessary leadership to be a viable franchise in the league.”

After the mid-season “Coffee with the Commissioner” article was published on the RMFL web site, however, in which Neumeier voiced his expectations (or lack thereof) regarding the Seminoles, both of the teams’ primary leaders, Nate Cone and David McCoy took action; phoning the commissioner and explaining in no uncertain terms that the Seminoles would be back… even at the cost of paying 2007 back fines and if required to pay another $500 “new team” deposit.

After finishing the season with a $100 balance in their deposit account, the Seminoles missed the league meeting, incurring a $200 fine and putting them back into a probationary status for 2008.  The Seminoles, however, were not the only teams that missed the final league meeting of the year.  Both the Boise Speed and the Utah Heat also were not represented and will carry over an extra $200 fine into 2008.  Because of the Seminoles positive deposit balance, they will be required to pay $100 in fines (and tender another $500 probationary deposit).

“We only have two meetings a year,” Neumeier added, “it doesn’t make any sense to be in this league and not be represented in ½ of our meetings.”

According to the RMFL, the Seminoles, however, never really officially left the league, the RMFL was simply not planning on counting upon the Seminoles in ’08.  With the returning of the Seminoles, the field of established teams heading into ’08 stands at 21 with a host of new teams lining up to apply for admission.  New teams are expected to apply from Montana (Billings, Bozeman, Havre, Missoula), Idaho (Nampa, Meridian), Utah (Duchesne, Ogden, Logan), and even Colorado (Grand Junction, Denver).
