RMFL – It only took RMFL Commissioner, Jared Neumeier, 7 years to realize that an official position of RMFL Marketing Director had to be created, he hopes that it will only take a month now for that person to be officially named and begin to take action.
Neumeier announced at the 2007 RMFL Kick-Off Meeting the position that he will be filling in the upcoming month in the budget presentation session of the league meeting. For Neumeier, it was because of the budget, the position HAD to be created.
“It is interesting how our league has been financially managed similar to so many of our teams,” he explained, “we have paid for our bills 100% based on our team fees collected. This is similar to some of our teams that run without sponsorship; they run their team financially based on receiving player fees. Well, now that our league has reached this size, I think we have a lot more marketing leverage and we have something really big to offer a potential sponsor. I know I’m not the kind of guy to get that done. We need the right kind of person who knows how to market.”
The position is open to anyone with some kind of proven marketing experience.
The position will pay $500 that will be payable when the Marketing Director prepares and has an approved Marketing plan in place. The Marketing Director will further receive a commission or 30% of sponsorship monies received.
“I know the commission percentage is a little higher than normal,” Neumeier said, “but I wanted to REALLY motivate this person to get out there and start raising money for the league. Obviously, this position has the ability to be the highest paid position on the staff.”
The League, however, feels that it’s a win-win for both parties. A Marketing Director could make some good money for themselves, while at the same time raising significant funds for the RMFL, providing either significantly lower league fees, a lot more options on what the league can spend money on… or both.
“There are certainly many things that I have considered doing or paying for as a league, “Neumeier said, “however, after immediately figuring out what it would cost our teams in league fees, I don’t consider it any further. If a Marketing Director is not very successful, we haven’t lost much. If, however, they are successful, we will have gained a lot.”
The RMFL is asking for any qualified candidates to write an e-mail to the league at: rockymountainfootball@yahoo.com
Simply explain that you are interested, explain what background you have and include a statement about where you believe the greatest potential for league marketing exists and how you would attack that market.
When writing the league, please be sure to include a telephone number.
Neumeier will then begin to contact top candidates by around the third week of February, with the intention of a final decision by the end of February or the first of March.
Other positions the RMFL will be looking to fill in the future…
