Game Summary/Box Score
April 28, 2007 Eastern Idaho Lionz at Salt Lake Seminoles @ Granite High School

EASTERN IDAHO 27  SALT LAKE 20

SALT LAKE – The Eastern Idaho Lionz completed a perfect, but rugged 3-game road swing through Boise, Idaho and two games in Salt Lake City, with a 27-20 victory over the surging Salt Lake Seminoles at Granite High School.

The Lionz had to battle back from being down 14-8 and 20-15 to score two unanswered 4th quarter touchdowns to escape with the tough road victory over a powerful Salt Lake Seminoles football squad.

Former RMFL MVP, Nate Brown, caught the go-ahead touchdown pass from Todd Barber (24-26-4-317-2) midway through the 4th quarter and Barber dove across for an insurance TD later in the quarter to salt away the 27-20 victory in a game where the outcome… was always in doubt.

Big plays marked the first half which ended in a tight 15-14 margin, lead by the Eastern Idaho Lionz.  Lionz defensive back, Scott Quilter intercepted the first of 4 Nate Cone interceptions and raced 56 yards for the first score of the game and an 8-0 Lionz lead (after a Nate Brown reception for 2-points).  On the next possession, Seminoles quarterback, Cone, then electrified the home crowd with a 49-yard touchdown sprint to pull Salt Lake to within 8-6.  The Seminoles would take the lead on their own big return, a 51-yard return by Randell Crossman of Todd Barber.  Barber would also get picked off 4 times by an aggressive Seminoles defense.

Barber would, however, pass for another 300+ game, completing 24 passes for 317 yards, including 7 for 119 yards to the teams leading receiver, Zac Johnson, and another 8 for 110 to the suddenly resurgent, Nate Brown.  The Seminoles’ Cone would pass for 142 yards, including 115 on 4 receptions to Spoon Moala. Moala’s 89-yard touchdown pass play from Cone in the third quarter was the only score of the third and gave the Seminoles the 20-15 lead.

Josh Pettit lead the Lionz tacklers with 5-1/2 total tackles and Shawn Madry came up big for the Seminoles with 12 tackles… an early team record for the expansion franchise.  Ultimately, however, the Lionz defense came to play in the 4th quarter and once Eastern Idaho grabbed the lead, the defense was up to holding it.
