Game Summary/Box Score
April 14, 2007 Rhino-Raiders vs. Pocatello Predators

RHINO-RAIDERS 21 POCATELLO 0

POCATELLO – RMFL All-Star, formerly of the Cache Valley Bears… and formerly of the Ogden Rhino-Raiders, returned to his old team in 2007 and rushed for 125 yards on 22 carries and a score as the Rhino-Raiders rushed out to a 21-0 halftime lead and held on in the second half to pick up a hard-fought road victory over the Pocatello Predators in Pocatello, Idaho.

Dave Stireman passed for 130 yards and two touchdowns to another player that was a Cache Valley Bear in 2006, Justin DeFour.  DeFour would grab 7 of Stireman’s tosses for 95 yards on the afternoon to lead the Rhino-Raiders offense.

Both defenses, however, ultimately “came to play”.

The Rhino-Raider defense continued its onslaught of opposing backfields recording another 6 quarterback sacks against Pocatello’s rookie quarterback, Jordan Peterson.  However, it may have been the Pocatello rushing game that was stymied the most by the Rhino front seven as the Predators running backs could only muster 30 total net yards on 18 carries all game.

After suffering through some first half mis-cues and bad breaks, the Predators defense, too, was outstanding.  Except for Oswald’s 24-yard touchdown run early in the game, the Predators held the Rhinos to less than 4 yards an attempt (all by Oswald) and kept the potent Rhino passing attack “down” to less than 120 total net yards, including holding 2006 record-shattering wide receiver, Damon Greenberry, to only 1 catch on the day for 8 yards.

The Rhino defensive effort was lead by the Tupe’s, Levine (6 tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception) and Jay (5 tackles, 1 sack) and Jake Phippen (4 tackles, 2 sacks) as the Predators could only muster 6 first downs in 4 quarters of play.

The Predators defense was lead by Troy Sutton (6-1/2 tackles), Kaleb Moir (5-1/2 tackles), Jeff May (1 interception), and newly acquired linebacker, Doug Hurst (4 tackles, 1-1/2 sacks) however, lacking offensive support, it was in a losing cause.

Both teams were hit hard with penalties, particularly in the first half with the Rhinos, once again winning that battle with 90 yards to Pocatello’s 86.
