RMFL – The Rocky Mountain Football League announced today that the Utah Wolverines have successfully won a challenge to the week 1 statistics reported by the Utah Heat. The Utah Heat over reported by 113 extra yards of offense, 35 passing and 78 rushing. According to RMFL Commissioner Neumeier, “the defensive stats, on the other hand, did check out; in fact I counted more sacks by their defense that what was reported.”
The biggest violation that was caught by the Wolverines… in rushing yards rang in loud and clear with the discrepancy being more than double their actual yards. “There were a lot of no gains and losses,” Commissioner, Jared Neumeier said, “and in every case, I would give them the benefit of the doubt of that extra yard. These are the sorts of problems that tips your opponent off.”
Although the passing yards were also overstated, Neumeier said that if it were in the passing alone, it would not warrant a “serious violation” occurrence. “35 yards is significant, but I won’t slap a probation or the ultimate penalty on a team for 35 yards. McLucas actually did have a pretty decent performance.”
The stats from that game have now been adjusted accordingly and have be reflected on the current AAA Overall Stat total. At the same time, the Utah Heat team stats have been adjusted accordingly.
Furthermore, the Utah Heat will be placed in “Probationary Status”. Any future challenges by a team that also reflect significant discrepancies will result in ALL of the Utah Heat stats being invalidated for the season AND all of the Heat players disqualified from the all-star game or any post-season awards.
“Obviously, we don’t want to EVER have to do that, “Commissioner Neumeier explained, “so if there is another challenge, it will undergo even more review, probably by even more than myself. We don’t ever want to come to that, but we also don’t ever want teams to operate their statistic reporting without proper integrity. It defeats the whole purpose for EVERYONE. I think that this is just another case of a team missing the afternoon session of the league meeting and not being prepared to “tow the line” on following league procedures or understanding the penalties and implications if they don’t.”
Neumeier said that he is awaiting another challenge video from the weekend of April 22nd… So stay tuned.
