RMFL PROPOSES MERGER WITH COLORADO FOOTBALL CONFERENCE; WOULD COMPLETE “ROCKY MOUNTAIN PICTURE” IF ACCEPTED

RMFL  For the first time ever, the Rocky Mountain Football League extended an “olive branch” of sorts to the neighboring Colorado Football Conference (CFC)… in the form of a sweeping merger proposal that would fold the current and any potential CFC teams into the RMFL’s current AAA/AA structure and complete what RMFL Commissioner, Jared Neumeier, calls the “Rocky Mountain Football Picture”.

“A merger is scary,” Commissioner Neumeier stated,” but exciting as well.  Potential change is often a problem for many who don’t want to ‘upset the apple cart’; for myself, it represents a lot more work, but its not work I’m not willing to do so that this region truly has a league that produces what will always be known as the true “Rocky Mountain Football League” Champion.

If the proposal is accepted by enough CFC general managers, the RMFL, which is already the largest “true” geographical league in the United States, would also become one of the top 3 “true” leagues by number of teams as well.

“What I mean by ‘true’ League,” Commissioner Neumeier explained, “is a league that the teams from all parts of the league could actually see each other in a regular season game. The teams are truly aligned in the same league and not just an association of smaller leagues that agree to play in a post season tournament together like the NAFL or the MLFA or any of the other ‘copycat’ football associations.”

The RMFL has sent the proposal, which can be read and reviewed by the league’s players in the link below, on Monday, August 21, at about 4:30 MST to all of the CFC GM’s, the RMFL Managing Board and the CFC Commissioner and staff. Neumeier expects some difficulty.

“It seems to me, and I could certainly be wrong,” Neumeier explained”, that they CFC officers make too good of money for what they deliver to want to give up this cash cow too easily. I expect politics and static as they fight to retain a lucrative income source.”

Neumeier says its now up to the players and GM’s of the CFC.

“It is also going to be up to our Managing Board,” Neumeier clarified, “I think that we all want to limit how much growth this league can undergo, but I don’t think there will be a lot of reluctance to accept the CFC teams. There is A LOT of respect from the western Rockies for the eastern Rockies. It will be a great situation for both sides.”

Neumeier gave no particular “dead lines” for the proposal, instead allowing for the rhetoric and discussion to “play out on its own time.”

“I think that this will be a very easy decision for some teams, and a bit more difficult for others. I think we need to allow as much time as necessary for all the teams to review the situation and make an  informed decision for their players,” we owe everyone involved that much respect.”
