STEWART CLAIMS RMFL’S THIRD “FASTEST MAN” COMPETITION; JURASEK THROWS FOR 67 TO SUCCESSFULLY DEFEND AND SHODA PUMPS 225 44 TIMES TO DESTROY COMPETITION AND REPEAT AS THE RMFL’S “STRONGEST MAN” BEFORE ALL-STAR GAME

RMFL – Once again, the RMFL’s fastest players lined it up on the 50-yard line before the all-star game.

However, 2006 saw a new competitor in Cache Valley’s Anthony Stewart.  Stewart blew away the competition, including the reigning fastest man, Brandon Reed on his way to the “Fastest Man” title for the Cache Valley Bears.

Missoula Raptors star quarterback, Shane Jurasek did not disappoint either, tossing a football 67 yards in the air to more than defend his RMFL’s “Strongest Arm” title in being able to throw a football the furthest distance.  Each player had 2 throws to do their best and Jurasek had to overcome a solid 63 yard throw by the Muddogs star quarterback, Jordan Kjar. After the first round, Jurasek trailed several throwers with only a 57 yard toss.  However, on the second throw with everything on the line, Jurasek came through with the big toss to retain the title.  Kjar finished second with the 63 yard toss and defensive lineman, Justin Lamb, actually finished third with a 59-yard toss.

When the Fastest Man and Strongest Arm competitions wound down, the RMFL players joined the “Strongest Man” competion in progress.  Many watched as Matt Shoda bench-pressed 225 pound for 44 repetitions to win the competition going away… again.  Austin Rowser of the Morgan Marauders and David Craig of the Great Falls Gladiators finished tied for second, with 25 benches. Tyler Card of the Muddogs and Paul Tryon of the Bitterroot Blaze finished 3rd with 16 repetitions.
