“GET YOUR GAME ONE; YOU’RE AN
ALL-STAR!!! FINAL DETAILS/REMINDERS FOR
THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN FOOTBALL LEAGUE’S BEST PLAYERS OF 2006
GARLAND, UTAH
– In 2005, All-Star festivities got a little more "festive" with the
first ever "Strongest Man” and “Strongest Arm" competition held
immediately before the game as well as the second year of the “Fastest Man”
race.
It was a rousing success.
NOTE: Champions to beat: Shane Jurasek, Strongest Arm; Matt Shoda,
Strongest Man; Brandon Reed, Fastest Man…will all be there to defend their
title.
Once again, the big social event of the year in the Rocky Mountain Football
League will pit the league’s top players… playing on the same side; but will
also have the big three pre-game competitions, open to ALL RMFL players as well
as the half time awards presentations that will award the top performers statisticly through the season as well as the Most valuable
players of all of the several divisions and conferences as voted on by the
players.
“I think that the league likes to know who its ‘fastest man’ is AND who is
the strongest and which passer can gun it the deepest,” RMFL Commissioner,
Jared Neumeier said, “these competitions are scheduled at a time when the
all-stars will have finished their pre-game preparations and should be resting
up… for the most part anyway.”
The Fastest Man competition will be one or potentially two 50-yard dash
heats with a final pitting the 6 fastest for the overall best (depending upon
how many competitors). The strongest man competition will be which player can
do the most repetitions of a 225-lb bench press and the strongest arm will be a
longest throw competition in which each contestant will get two throws, with
yards deducted for yards away from the line, so accuracy will be part of the
competition. A trophy will be awarded for each winner and the results of each
competition will be posted to the web site on the following Sunday as well, for
those not able to attend the game. ALL league players are welcome to come to
the game, join the field and enter this competition, not just the All-Stars.
The requirement, however, will be to wear the jersey of the team you play on
and report on the field your name and team. "I think it will be a fun
event and I know everyone will be curious as to who wins these events,"
Neumeier added.
Also, as a final reminder to ALL All-Star players.
Pick up your game jersey by the locker rooms and be on the field and ready by
3:00 p.m. BRING YOUR BEST WHITE FOOTBALL PANTS (if you have white pants,
otherwise the lightest color pants you have).
IF YOU DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE GAME, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A JERSEY. THE
JERSEY IS NOT A REWARD FOR MAKING THE
TEAM, BUT PART OF THE GAME UNIFORM OF THE DAY AND A SOUVENIR OF YOUR 2006
ALL-STAR EXPERIENCE. JERSEYS HAVE ALREADY BEEN PRINTED WITH YOUR NAME ON THE BACK.
PLEASE BE THERE TO SUPPORT YOUR FELLOW PLAYERS AND ENJOY MEETING ALL OF THE
OTHER STAR PLAYERS FROM AROUND THE LEAGUE.
WHAT EVERY ALL-STAR NEEDS TO KNOW:
- Game is at Bear
River High School
(Garland, Utah;
south of Tremonton) on Saturday, July 15th
- Take exit 381 east off I-15 north of Tremonton (coming in from
Boise/Twin Falls, need to take I-15 north off the I-84/I-15 junction) The school will be about ½ to 1 mile on
the right.
- BE THERE BY 2:30 P.M. SO YOU CAN BE DRESSED
AND READY TO WORKOUT AT 3:00 P.M.
ON THE FIELD. Jerseys will be issued and worn
for workouts (no shoulder pads for workout; helmets at coaches
option, however most coaches will not require). Your jerseys will help
coaches identify you. COMMITMENT TO PLAY IN THIS GAME, INCLUDED COMMITMENT
TO BE THERE AND READY BY 3:00 P.M. IF YOU CANNOT BE THERE BY THE TIME
PLAYERS ARE REQUIRED TO REPORT, LET THE LEAGUE OR YOUR GM KNOW SO THAT WE
CAN FIND A REPLACEMENT FOR YOU.
- Coaches will have guidelines
for playing time (EQUAL time for all players) that will include starting
the first players that are ready for practice. Just allow plenty of time,
show respect for your fellow players and be there in plenty of time to be
ready to become familiar with your all-star teammates and coaches.
- BRING WHITE PANTS.
Even worn, white practice pants (cleaned) will look better with the
all-star jerseys than a bunch of different colors, especially if everyone
has them. Different colored helmets are obviously
expected and allows you to display your team representation. If you
don't have white pants, try to borrow them, or buy a pair (usually, only
about $10).
- Coaching staffs will need to
provide tape and footballs, etc. from their team's equipment store, however, you may wish to bring your own tape
and/or balls. Water is being
supplied by the host team, the Bear River Valley Rockets. Thanks!!!!.
- Game will begin at 6:15 p.m. There will be a small
gate fee for adults that goes to the school that
is allowing us to hold the event. Please make your family and friends,
etc. aware that this is just part of the cost of holding these events.
- Competitions will be held
between 5:10 p.m. and 5:40 p.m. on the field.
- Pre-game ceremonies and
complete team player introductions will begin at 5:55 p.m.
- Halftime is extended by 20
minutes for awards presentations. All individual awards, including the MVP
awards will be presented at this time for the 2006 season. If you may win
an award, and you will not be there, try to designate a person to accept
on your behalf, otherwise, one will be appointed for you.
