NEW PLYMOUTH – Mitch Clark’s unprecedented,
record-shattering 17th pass reception of the game was a big
one. Clark caught a 7-yard touchdown
pass from James Rees to complete a remarkable Morgan Marauder comeback and a
28-26 victory over the host, Snake River Sabercats.
The Sabercats jumped up
26-14 at the half as the powerful Sabercat offense behind their star and
defending West Division MVP, Tyler Collingwood, who passed for only 82 yards
and one touchdown, however, lead the team in rushing and ran in for two other
scores.
Collingwood’s remarkable
home performance, however, was upstaged by Mitch Clarks road performance. Clark rushed for 52 yards and then caught an
amazing, record 17 passes from quarterback, James Rees for 109 yards and the
big reception with just over 4 minutes to go in the game to turn a then, 26-22
deficit into a BIG 28-26 road victory over the improved Snake River Sabercats.
The game turned out to be the most exciting of the weekend, with the Marauders defense shutting down the Sabercat offense for the entire second half as they clawed their way back into the game with a James Morgan touchdown reception late in the 3rd quarter and then the big Clark reception that pulled the Marauders ahead to stay.
Colby Ball lead the Marauders amazing defensive efforts with 11 tackles on the game to lead both sides
