MISSOULA – The defending Montana state
champion, Missoula Raptors continued their dominance over the Great Falls Gladiators
behind a 152-yard, 3-touchdown rushing effort from star tailback, Gavin Johnson
to go on to drop the Gladiators by a 27-0 margin.
Johnson would also catch 2
Shane Jurasek passes and turn them into 58-yard gains to go over 200 yards from
scrimmage for the first time in his RMFL career. Jurasek would pass for 202 yards to lead the
passing attack as the Raptors relied upon some big pass plays along with some
hard, consistent rushing by Johnson to sweep the season series with the
Gladiators.
The Gladiators did get 91
rushing yards from star tailback, Sterling Wynn and another 78 scrambling yards
from quarterback, Robert Cook, however, Cook could only complete 2 passes for
22 yards against a Raptor defense which seems to be getting better every week. The
Raptor defense also forced 6 Gladiator turnovers, recovering two Gladiator
fumbles and intercepting Cook 4 times to accomplish the shutout. The second shutout of the season for the Raptors who won the first
contest with the Gladiators in Great Falls by a 17-9 score.
Raptor place-kicker, Rapheal Roberts would connect on two field goals to close out the scoring, including a 47-yard kick as the first half was ending that turned a 7-0 precarious lead into a 10-0 halftime lead and built some momentum for the second half for the home town Raptors.
