REED CLAIMS RMFL’S SECOND
“FASTEST MAN” COMPETITION; JURASEK THROWS FOR 65 AND SHODA PUMPS 225 31 TIMES
TO CLAIM LEAGUE’S “STRONGEST MAN” TITLE BEFORE ALL-STAR GAME
RMFL
– The Idaho Falls
Mustangs star wide receiver and defensive back, Brandon Reed knew it wasn’t
going to be as easy as the field that fellow former Mustang, Josh Roth had in
the inaugural event in 2004, however he had no idea it would be THIS easy.
Reed got an early quick
start on a field of 11 RMFL sprinters and then held his advantage to win a
50-yard dash and claim the title as the league’s Fastest Man as the RMFL pre-game festivities heated up.
Helena Titans venerable
quarterback, Shane Jurasek did not disappoint either, tossing a football 66
yards in the air (65 yards adjusted for accuracy) to more than claim the RMFL’s
“Strongest Arm” title in being able to throw a football the furthest
distance. Each player had 2 throws to do
their best and Jurasek lead by a comfortable margin in proving his arm. Jurasek proceeded to look for Brandon Reed in
the game, early and often, however, was unable to connect for the big play.
When the Fastest Man and
Strongest Arm competitions wound down, the RMFL players joined the “Srrongest Man” competion in
progress. Many watched as Matt Shoda
bench-pressed 225 pound for 31 repetitions to win the competition going
away. Mike Pease of the Gladiators was a
distant second with 18 repetitions as Shoda proved to be most formidable in
this, the events first year. Surprisingly, place-kicker, Bryan Hilborn pressed the weight 17 times to place third.

Mustangs two-way star, Brandon Reed collects the fastest man trophy after sprinting past the competition.

All 3 players received a
nice trophy for the distinction of their efforts.
