Helena Titans at Glacier Knights, May 7, 2005

COLUMBIA FALLS – Shane Jurasek passed for 250 yards and 4 touchdowns and Jeremy Ewan rushed for 106 yards and scored 2 touchdowns as the Helena Titans continued their dominance over intra-state rival, the Glacier Knights with a convincing 62-6 victory in Columbia Falls, Montana.

Jurasek completed 16 of 21 passes and was not intercepted in the game as he found running back, Jeremy Ewan for the games first score, a 40-yard catch and run to put the Titans ahead 7-0.  On the Titans next drive, Jurasek found all-star receiver and team leader, Dave Garza for a 25-yard touchdown pass and the Titans  began to roll.  Garza ended up with 6 receptions for 78 yards and two of Jurasek’s touchdown tosses on the day to lead the receiving corps.  Place-kicker, Bryan Hilborn continued to have a career year, connecting on 6 of 7 extra points and nailing 2 more field goals to lead all kickers in the RMFL.

After giving up 49 points in a scoring fest to Idaho Falls last week, the Titan defense recovered nicely against the league’s last ranked offense in the league. Coming into the game, the Knights had averaged barely over 92 yards of total offense per game.  The Titan defense even accounted for two touchdowns of their own.  Jake Pannell recovered a Glacier fumble in their own end zone late in the third period and linebacker, Steve Rice finished the scoring by waltzing in a short interception return for a touchdown late in the 4th quarter.

The Knights offense did see some light at the end of the tunnel.  Bobby Kuehne showed speed and explosiveness on offense by breaking a 70-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage in the second half.  The run, however, was almost half of the Knights 159 total net yards on the game.  The Knights just couldn’t get their passing offense to go, completing just 4 of 19 passes against 3 interceptions and utilizing 5 different quarterbacks.

Except for the big play by Kuehne, the Titan defense played very well shutting down the Knights.  13 Titan defensemen recorded 2 or more tackles in the game, lead by Justin Lamb who had 5 for the contest.
