Magic Valley Bulldawgs at Snake River Sabercats, May 7, 2005

NEW PLYMOUTH – Mike Manning broke his own single game passing record of 420 yards with a 435-yard explosion as the Magic Valley Bulldawgs dismantled the 21st ranked Snake River Sabercat defense with big plays en route to a 46-0 regular season victory Saturday in New Plymouth.

Kelly Nebeker (3 receptions, 145 yards) and Cole Meiners (5 receptions, 133 yards) had big touchdown receptions of  85 and 65 yards respectively and Nebeker added another of 40 yards as the aerial assault was on for the Bulldawgs.  Former RMFL MVP, Lonnie Edwards also joined in the party with 96 rushing yards and 23 receiving yards including a 45-yard touchdown scamper late in the first quarter that put the Bulldawgs ahead 14-0 at the time. Mark Anthony, acquired from the Predators accounted for another 85 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns as the Bulldawgs built a 33-0 halftime lead and then cruised in for the win.

The Sabercats did get some solid play from quarterback, Matt Saylors who passed for 268 yards of his own. However, 4 interceptions spoiled the fun for the veteran Saylors who broke a single game record for pass attempts with 44 on the day (a record, previously held by Mike Manning with 42).  Cody Bates was the offensive story of the day for the Sabercats, leading not only his team or this game but the entire RMFL on the day with 163 yards on 13 receptions. 13 receptions in a single game is a new RMFL record, breaking the record of 12 held by current reigning RMFL Offensive MVP, Buck Mouser of the Madison Lionz.

The shutout defense of the Bulldawgs was lead by Rick May who recorded 10 tackles. Cole Meiners, who was an offensive star who can count a rushing touchdown with his receiving feats, also recorded 7 tackles and an interception in some exceptional two-way playing in dominating the first-year Sabercats.
