Missoula Raptors at Great Falls Gladiators, May 21, 2005

GREAT FALLS – The RMFL expansion, Missoula Raptors, completed their sweep of the veteran, Great Falls Gladiators with a convincing 32-0 victory on the scoreboard and an even more impressive 320 yards to 37 total net yards edge in the stat book.

The Raptors defense dominated the struggling Gladiator offense.  The Gladiators had been ranked 20th of 21 teams in offense with an average of 130 yards a game, however, with a net -32 passing yards, it was ugly early and often for the home team.

The Raptors offense, had a solid, yet unspectacular outing against a solid Gladiator defense. Justin Nixon had a solid day with 55 rushing yards and catching and running for a 74-yard touchdown pass score early in the third quarter to push a 22-0 advantage to 29-0.  Raptor quarterback, Buckie Brawley had his best day of the season, throwing for 239 yards and 3 touchdowns, including the opening score which did not occur until 12:53 of the second quarter, an 87-yard bomb to tight end, Tyler Boaz.

The Raptors defense was paced by the efforts of team leader in tackles, Tad Sheridan who recorded 6 tackles including 2 sacks, defensive Captain, Jamie Jones (5-1/2 tackles. 1-1/2 sacks) and Joe Murawa (5 tackles, 2 sacks).

The Gladiators did have some defensive stars. Mike Rhode recorded 8 tackles, including 1-1/2 sacks. John Garcia had 5-1/2 tackles and Sam Morgan was in on 4-1/2 tackles including 1-1/2 sacks as the Gladiator defense made a solid showing on a potent Raptor offense.
