Glacier Knights at Helena Titans, May 21, 2005

HELENA – The Helena Titans scored 3 touchdowns within 1-1/2 minutes early in the second quarter to turn a 13-0 duel into a 35-0 game and sailed home for a decisive home victory over the fading Glacier Knights Saturday in Helena.

The Titans, who came into the game as the RMFL’s #1 offense did not disappoint. The league’s #3 passing offense and #5 rushing offense relied primarily on the later as they racked up 286 rushing yards on 34 carries on the game. Jeremy Ewan rushed for 145 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown, however, it was Justin Clement who stole the show near the red zone.  Clement rushed 16 times for 134 yards and 3 rushing touchdowns and also caught a touchdown pass as the offense exploded for just over a quarter of the game.

Shane Jurasek has a quiet game for him, with only 116 yards passing, however, he connected on 3 touchdown passes on  for the game.  The league-leading scorer, Bryan Hilborn did not disappoint either, Hilborn hit another field goal (he did miss a 51-yard effort) and made another 5 extra points to continue to stake claim to the league scoring title, a title that has never been won by a kicker. Hilborn also threw a pass for a 2-point conversion and recorded 1-1/2 tackles.

The Helena defense held the Knights under 100 total yards for the game to improve on what was coming into the game as the leagues 13th ranked defense.  Defensive stars included their line-backing corps of Steve Rice (5-1/2 tackles), Spencer Steiner (4-1/2 tackles), Mike Moe (4-1/2 tackles) and Dan Roope (4 tackles) as they shut down the Knights 21st ranked offense.

The Knights continue to get stellar all-around play from Jason Zielanski. Although Zielanski was caught for the safety in the 4th quarter when the game was out of reach, he did rush 82 yards on offense and recorded 9 tackles on defense in iron man play.  Scott Ruda had 7 tackles and Austin Owens got an interception to help the Knight defensive cause.
