Snake River Sabercats at Boise Roughriders, May 14, 2005

HORSESHOE BEND – Aaron Blakely, fully recovered from an earlier injury set a new single game rushing record, set in 2004 by former Roughrider and last season’s MVP, Ernesto Ramos. Blakely rushed 23 times for a record 236 yards and 3 touchdowns to lead the Boise Roughriders over the Snake River Sabercats 50-0 Saturday night to keep the Roughriders in first place in the RMFL’s West Idaho Division.

Blakely’s record was set when he broke a 61-yard touchdown run late in the 4^th quarter as the Roughriders were simply running down the clock.

All 7 Roughrider touchdowns were via the ground as Chance Leeds (2), Jason Yates and quarterback, Brian Stogsdill all recorded rushing touchdowns as the Roughriders exploded for 310 yards rushing against the struggling Sabercat rushing defense.

Maurice Sapp and Darnell Hasson lead the defense with 4 tackles a piece and Bob Mares recorded 2 sacks of Sabercat quarterback, Tyler Collingwood as the Roughriders held the Sabercat offense to a meaguer 151 total net yards on the evening.

Cody Bates and Shawn King each caught 5 passes from Collingwood to lead the offense which had some success against the top-ranked Roughrider defense. Matt Frye, Brett Smith and Mike Jangula lead the Sabercat defense with 6 tackles a piece in a losing effort.
