Great Falls Gladiators at Pocatello Predators, April 30, 2005

FORT HALL – The resurgent Pocatello Predators sprinted out to a 33-0 early third quarter lead and then cruised home for a convincing 33-13 victory over the improved Great Falls Gladiators at home to improve to 2-1 on the young season.

The Predator offense, which had been held to only 6 points in the opening contest against the Boise Roughriders, have now scored more than 30 points in the past two contests to climb back into contention in arguably the toughest division in the RMFL.

Predator quarterback and former RMFL MVP, Jeff Belnap (12-21-0-176-4) threw 4 touchdown passes, including 2 to former consecutive 3-time RMFL Offensive MVP, Brock Gunter (5 receptions, 80 yards) to pace the solid offensive effort against a good Gladiator defense.

The Gladiator offense did get a positive surprise from Joe Reza who stepped in at tailback to rush for 62 yards on 10 carries and the Gladiators all-star strong safety, Brad Thurber stepped in at quarterback to rush for a touchdown and toss another to prevent the shutout.

The Predators defense had solid all-around team play as 12 Predators recorded at least 2 tackles, including a big boost from annual defensive star and team leader, Trent Sutton who was one of the team leaders with 4-1/2 tackles. Cliff Garbett continued his onslaught of the offensive backfields, picking up another 1-1/2 sacks on the game. Mike Pease and Mike Rhode lead the Gladiators defense with 5-1/2 and 4-1/2 tackles respectively.
