SALT LAKE 34  KAMAS VALLEY 10

Salt Lake Nemesis at Kamas Valley Muddogs, April 16, 2005

RMFLThe Salt Lake Nemesis opened the 2005 regular season right where they left off in 2004, with a solid effort against a quality team. Only this time, the result was a win.  The Nemesis used a balanced attack of run (135 yards) and pass (220 yards) en route to a 34-10 victory over a tough and improving Kamas Valley Muddogs football team.

Newly acquired Nemesis quarterback, Mark Henderson (5-9-1-45-3, 54 rushing yards) threw 3 touchdown passes and ran 24 yards for a 4th touchdown in leading the Nemesis offense.  Henderson wasn’t even the only quarterback having a solid day for the Nemesis. Returning quarterback, Steve Waelty, also passed for 183 yards and a touchdown, which was a 91-yard pass to Cody Jamison in the third quarter that pushed the Nemesis lead from 21-3 to 28-3 and seemed to put the game out of reach.

Marvell Smith had a combined 111 total yards as well for the Nemesis offense (42 rushing , 69 receiving) including the opening score of the first quarter, a 35-yard catch and run for a touchdown that put the Nemesis up 7-0.

The Muddogs played strong throughout, but were victimized by key penalties at the wrong times.  Although, the Muddogs were only penalized 8 penalties for 40 yards, the penalties almost always nullified key or big plays for the Muddogs. Will Faleola, Jason Mapu and Aaron Morley all recorded 4 tackles for the Muddogs to lead the team.  Chris Hooper made the big play to scoop up the Nemesis fumble and race 45-yards for the Muddogs only touchdown. George Allums played his first game for the Muddogs and made it memorable, potentially a sign of things to come. Allums rushed for 80 yards, caught a 30-yard pass and chipped in on kick-off returns.

The Nemesis defense was lead by Dan Cruser (5-1/2 tackles), Nate Cone (5 tackles), Harold Regan (4-1/2 tackles, interception), Rocky Jann (5 tackles) and Travis Scherzinger (4-1/2 tackles, sack) in shutting down the Muddog offense for the key parts of the game.
