OGDEN - With only one of a number of great performances in a star career, South Ogden Rhino-Raider quarterback, Dave Stireman garned the RMFL's first championship game MVP award with an incredible 5-touchdown pass, 321 passing yard effort in leading the Rhino-Raiders over the Idaho Falls Mustangs.
A number of Rhino-Raiders were singled out for a great effort, including defensive back Nate Miconi, who lead the team in major pad-popping tackles, and according to fellow defenseman, Shane Dooley, "It should be Miconi, he had a lot of great hits!" Stireman, himself, wanted immediately to share or give the award to his star receiver, Damon Greenberry who caught 6 passes for 144 yards and 3 touchdowns in the game. According to the managing board panelist who voted for Greenberry for MVP, "without Greenberry's efforts, Stireman wouldn't have gotten all those yards and touchdowns." When hearing the vote was close, Stireman offered to "break the tie", if there was one and cast his own vote for Greenberry.

Stireman also gave some great props to his offensive line. A line that lead the RMFL in composite rating during the RMFL season, "it just makes a big difference when they all are there. Without those guys, none of us could do what we do. We owe it all to them." Those recognitions, to be precise, would go to Todd Wheelwright, Phil Sotomayor, Travis Elliot, Charles Kano, Gary Lucero and Eric Christiansen.
Greenberry's partner in crime, Norvel Young, also had a great evening, catching 5 passes for 114 yards and a score, giving the two receivers a combined total of 11 catches for 258 yards and 4 touchdowns. Stireman, however, was near perfect in the championship victory. A number of his incompletions were actual dropped balls, and, even with that, torched the field with an incredible 172.1 quarterback efficiency rating
Congratulation, Dave Stireman!
