May 1, 2004 Davis Vipers vs. Pocatello Predators
POCATELLO 27 DAVIS 6
POCATELLO - Travis Boden rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Pocatello Predators to their second straight win, 27-6 over a stout Davis Viper football team. After a scoreless first period, in which the (thusfar) winless Vipers held the top-ranked Predators scoreless, Boden broke through on a 10-yard run to put the Predators up 7-0.
Predator quarterback, Jeff Belnap (8-13-1-148-2) threw touchdown passes in the second and third quarters and Boden broke loose on a 40-yard rumble up the sidelines later in the 4th quarter to break a 21-6 game into the final margin of 27-6 and put the game away from a hard-hitting Viper football team.
The Vipers had success offensively and defensively as Viper back-up quarterback, Terry "skinny" Smothers (11-23-3-149-1) had a nice game for the Vipers, including an 18-yard scamper for a first down and a touchdown toss to Josh Christensen early in the 4th quarter to pull the Vipers to within 21-6 at the time. Defensively, the Vipers had a big "Christensen" day, getting solid efforts from Mike (4 tackles), Matt (4 tackles) and Josh (3-1/2 tackles). Jorden Brown also had 3 tackles and Tim Rice had 2-1/2 and an interception of former MVP quarterback, Belnap in the game to help lead the Viper defense.
The Predator defense was lead, once again, by Trent Sutton (8-1/2 tackles, 1 interception), T.J. Bingham (7 tackles) and John Lausen who recorded 4 tackles, two of those critical sacks on Viper quarterback, Smothers.
