HELENA 47 LAYTON LONGHORNS 14

BOULDER - The Helena Titans amassed a 2004 high, 565 total net yards of offense, including 356 rushing yards and turned a tight, 13-0 halftime lead and 26-14 third quarter lead into a rout by pulling away in the fourth quarter for a 47-14 victory over the Layton Lonhorns.

Hollis Huggins rushed for 148 yards on 11 carries and two touchdowns, including an electrifying 89-yard run early in the 4th quarter to put the game out of reach. Justin Clement, also had a big day running with the football, rushing for 154 yards on 20 carries and a fourth quarter score. Shane Jurasek had another solid outing, completing 9 or 18 passes for 219 yards and two touchdowns and no interceptions. League-leading reciever (second overall), Dave Garza caught 3 of Jurasek's passes for 88 yards, including the only touchdown of the first half, a big 68-yard pass play that put the Titans ahead 10-0 at that time.

The Titan defense played solid with Micheal Moe leading the way with 4-1/2 tackles and a sack and Brian Zipperian recording 3 tackles and a league-leading 4th interception of the season. Spencer Steiner (4 tackles), Dan Roope (3-1/2 tackles), Lucas Cannay (3.5 tackles) and Justin Lamb (3-1/2 tackles) also came up big in the Titans home victory.

The Longhorns did have some offensive success behind a solid performance by quarterback, Steve Wilson who threw for 118 yards and two 3rd quarter touchdown passes to get the Longhorns into the game until the Titans big 4th quarter surge. Felix Fuentes had a nice game at reciever, catching 5 Wilson passes for 71 yards and a 37-yard score that pulled the Longhorns to within 13-6 early in the third quarter. Nate Babtist and Vince Ortegon lead the defense with 5 tackles each.
