April 17, 2004 Madison Lionz vs. Magic Valley Bulldawgs

MADISON 37 MAGIC VALLEY 20

RUPERT - Reigning RMFL MVP, Troy Dougherty returned to action for the first time since May 17th, 2003 and winning the league's MVP award, and returned to form. Dougherty threw 5 touchdown passes and more than 300 yards as the Madison Lionz outscored the Magic Valley Bulldawgs 37-20.

Dougherty found starting tailback, Tony Jenks twice in the first quarter and veteran wide receiver, John Clark for 3 touchdowns as the Lionz built a 24-6 halftime lead and cruised to victory in the 4th quarter. Lionz wide receiver, Buck Mouser had a mega game, catching 10 Dougherty passes for 152 yards in the contest.

The Lionz defense kept Bulldawg quarterback, Mike Manning running most of the game, recording 4 sacks in the process. In fact, Manning was the Bulldawgs leading rusher with 40 yards rushing on the day. Manning, had a good offensive day, scoring one touchdown and tossing two touchdown passes, including a 40-yard strike to Cole Meiners (3 receptions, 110 yards, 1 touchdown) early in the 4th quarter to draw the Bulldawgs to within 30-20.

The Lionz defense was lead by Hyrum Allen (5 tackles, 1 sack), Jace Briggs (4.5 tackles) and Scott Schwab, 4 tackles, 1/2 sack, 2 interceptions) in keeping a powerful Bulldawg offense in check.

The Bulldawg defense did get solid play from Alan Hakes (8 tackles), Reggie Hakes (8 tackles), Brad Slater (5 tackles, 1 sack) and Deejay Stanger (5 tackles) in a losing effort.
