IDAHO FALLS 54 MAGIC VALLEY 12

IDAHO FALLS - Cody Jackson tied an RMFL single-game record by tossing 6 touchdown passes and throwing for over 300 yards as the Idaho Falls Mustangs dominated under-manned, arch-rival, Magic Valley for a convincing 54-12 victory, maintaining their #1 RMFC seeding for the 2004 RMFL playoffs.

Jackson completed only 12 passes, 6 for touchdowns as the Mustangs used a balanced attack to maintain drives and score over the Bulldawgs. A mixture of Mustang rushers ran 31 times for 147 yards, including 2 Dusty Hawker touchdown runs. Brad Cook, the hero in the Pocatello victory in the Mustangs previous game, had another stellar game, catching 5 Jackson passes for 148 yards including 2 touchdowns (70 yards, 20 yards).

The Bulldawgs, who have been decimated by injuries in 2004, including top quarterback, Mike Manning and key offensive threat, Jeff May, enjoyed some offensive success, including scoring the first touchdown of the game, a 25-yard pass from usual defensive back, Anterious Gant to Gabe Austin to give the Bulldawgs an early lead. This only got the Mustangs going, however, as they scored the next 33 points to put the game away. Bulldawg running back, Mitch Hodge rushed for 54 yards on 11 carries and Austin caught 4 passes for 83 yards to lead the Bulldawg offense.

The Mustang defense received another great effort for resurgent star linebacker, Ron Childs (4-1/2 tackles) and team tackle-leader, Rayce Bird (4-1/2 tackles). Overall, the Mustangs however had another great team defensive effort in shutting down the Bulldawgs. The Mustangs (6-1) final game will be a trip up to Rexburg to play hated rival, Madison (4-3) for a game with significant playoff implications around the RMFC.
