UTAH BLITZ 12 GREAT FALLS 0
GREAT FALLS - A relentless Utah Blitz defense, lead by Blitz linebacker, Ryan Ainge, who recorded 8 tackles and a sack on Gladiator ball-carriers in stifling the Gladiator offense for a total of only 84 yards of net total offense. Defensive captain, Mac Norlie also chipped in big with 6 tackles, including two sacks, and John Farrington picked up 4-1/2 tackles, a sack and an interception return for touchdown to get the Blitz on the board early in the second quarter as the Blitz built a 12-0 halftime lead and held on for the victory.
The Blitz got a solid rushing game from Ryan Lang who carried 22 times for 116 yards, while wide receiver, Jeff Johnson lead all receivers with 7 catches for 86 yards and a 22-yard touchdown grab from quarterback, Jeff LaBounty (9-16-1-105-1) as time was running out in the first half.
The Gladiator offense struggled, however, got a couple of nice runs from quarterback, Dee Jones (2 rushes, 26 yards, passing 4-19-2-77-0) and a nice play from Jones to wide receiver, Clarence Cook (1 reception, 37 yards). But the Gladiators struggled to get out of the backfield as the Blitz defense loaded up the "box" and bringing pressure on every play.
The Gladiator defense did play well, however, limiting the Blitz to a mediocre 282 total yards of offense (only 103 total net yards passing). Defensively, the Gladiators got solid games from Keon Pinkney (6.5 tackles), Charles Price (6 tackles), Reid Merriweather (5 tackles) and Sam Morgan (3 tackles, sack).
